Many DSHS students participate in inter scholastic athletics. All students are encouraged to try out for a sport. Students interested in participating in any sport should talk to the Athletic Director or the coaches. Physical forms are available in the Main Office, at the Counseling Front Desk.
In order to participate in extra and co curricular activities at Davis Senior High School, students must:
- Be enrolled for the required number and types of courses that will enable them to fulfill graduation requirements.
- Earn a grade average of "C" (2.0) or above during the immediately preceding marking period (1st quarter, 1 semester, 3rd quarter, 2nd semester). Grades shall be averaged without regard to plus or minus signs. A one-time waiver might be possible for this rule, grades 9 through 12.

- Each student on an athletic team represents Davis Senior High School. Good citizenship throughout all school activities is prerequisite to being on a DSHS athletic team.
- Regular and consistent attendance in all classes is expected of all students.
Irregular attendance in any class by a DSHS student-athlete may result in suspension or removal from participating in the sport.
Student-athletes are required to be in attendance in all of their scheduled classes on days of competition up until the approved class departure time to participate in the sport activity. - Each student must be enrolled for the required number and type of courses that enable the student to fulfill graduation requirements.
Each student must be enrolled in at least 20 credits.
Each student must have passed at least 20 credits in the last school’s marking period immediately preceding athletic participation. This requirement cannot be waived. - Any student who is suspended from school for disciplinary reasons shall automatically be excluded from participating in all athletic activities.
- The use of alcohol, drugs, and all tobacco products violates the training rules of any sport and is not tolerated under any circumstance.
Athletes who violate these training rules are subject to disciplinary consequences established by the coach and those established by the school—including possible exclusion from the team and from all athletic teams for the remainder of the school year. - Athletes must adhere to all rules, regulations and standards set forth by the coaching staff of his/her sport.
- Athletes are to conduct themselves in a positive way so they will not embarrass themselves, their team, school, family or community.
- Any athlete who has tested positive for any blood related disease must inform his/her coach of the circumstances involved. This information will remain confidential.
Sport try-out dates occur at these times:
- Fall- mid-August
- Winter-November
- Spring-February
Medical forms must be completed to try out for all sports. They may be picked up from the Athletic Director's secretary in the attendance office. Athletic Director can be reached by calling 757-5400.
