This course, which is taught primarily in Spanish, provides foundational knowledge of historical events, major movements in the arts, and cultural traditions of the Spanish-speaking world. 1st semester: ancient world to 1700s. 2nd semester: 1700 to present. The course is designed for students who intend to take subsequent AP level Spanish courses, but who have not yet had the opportunity to take World Civilizations and/or English 10. It is also designed for students who wish to increase fluency in reading, writing, and speaking Spanish, but do not elect to take Spanish 4/5/6, or do not feel ready for advanced levels. Native Spanish speakers may wish to learn more about Spanish heritage as they advance their reading and writing fluency.
