Course Selection Procedures

SOPHOMORES

  1. ENGLISH - 1 year course
    English 10 P; English 10 GATE P; English 10 Honors P
    or ELL (English Language Learners)
    or English 10, Sheltered (limited English language)
  2. PHYSICAL EDUCATION - 2 semesters
  3. SOCIAL SCIENCE - 1 year course
    Modern World Civilization P
    or Modern World History
    or World History, Sheltered (limited English language)
  4. OTHER REQUIRED COURSES: Select enough to complete your program. Choose among:
       1 year Physical Science
       1 year Life Science
       1 year Math
       1 sem Practical Arts
       1 year Fine Arts
       1 sem Health -recommended for grade 10, but may be taken in grade 11 or 12


JUNIORS

  1. ENGLISH - 1 year

       American Literature P; American Literature Honors P
       American Literature , Sheltered P
       English Language Learners
  2. HISTORY - 1 year
    Select from:
       US History AP
       Modern US History P
       Modern US History, Sheltered P
       Race & Social Justice in U.S. History
  3. ELECTIVES: Enough electives to satisfy graduation requirements and college admission requirements
  4. SPECIAL NOTE: Students who have earned fewer than 115 credits at the end of Grade 10 must see their counselor about adding more classes or considering other educational alternatives.


SENIORS

  1. ENGLISH - 1 year
    Select from a variety of English courses which are offered in a year sequence. Students who have been in sheltered classes should consult with their teachers about appropriate English classes.
  2. SOCIAL STUDIES
    Select from:
       US Government & Politics AP/Economics
       US Government & Politics P/Econ Survey
       US Government & Politics, Sheltered P/Econ
       US Government & Politics/Economics
       US Government AP/Human Geography APM
       Micro/Macro Economics AP (both semesters)/
  3. ELECTIVES: Enough electives to satisfy graduation requirements and college admission requirements.
  4. SPECIAL NOTE: Students who have earned fewer than 160 credits at the end of Grade 11 must see their counselor about adding more classes or considering other educational alternatives. A student with fewer than 160 credits may be reclassified as a junior.
